Client Overview

India’s first publicly listed commodity derivatives exchange, this state-of-the-art platform facilitates online trading of commodity derivatives, ensuring efficient price discovery and risk management. Operational since November 2003, the exchange is regulated by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) and was the first in India to introduce commodity options contracts. With a vast presence across 1,056 cities and towns, the exchange plays a pivotal role in India’s financial markets.

Business Need

To reduce rollbacks following network-related changes, ensuring a more stable and efficient IT infrastructure.

Challenge

The exchange faced a high rollback rate of nearly 70% for planned network changes due to unforeseen production issues after implementation. These setbacks resulted in operational disruptions and delays in deploying new services.

Solution Approach

Our team conducted a comprehensive analysis of previous failed change requests and identified key gaps in the change implementation strategy. The solution involved:

  • Root Cause Analysis – Reviewed all rollback cases to pinpoint failure patterns.

  • Failure Assessment – Determined that most failures stemmed from a lack of a holistic approach in assessing system-wide impact before implementation.

  • Process Optimization – Developed a structured and risk-mitigated approach to change management, ensuring thorough testing, validation, and phased rollouts.

Outcome & Impact

By adopting our structured approach, the exchange significantly improved its change management process:

Achieved near-perfect change management with zero rollbacks in the past year✅ Implemented 20 successful change requests, ensuring smooth and risk-free deployments✅ Reduced time to provision new services, enhancing overall operational efficiency✅ Earned long-term trust, leading to our involvement in analyzing and implementing all future change requests

Through this transformation, the exchange strengthened its IT governance, reduced operational risks, and established a robust and reliable change management framework, enabling seamless future upgrades.
